Davido has come far in his music career, yet the super star is showing no sign of slowing down as he continues to thrill fans all over the world with his music. It is said that wine gets better with age; this is so true of the “Omo Baba Olowo” crooner whose latest work is getting rave reviews across the globe.
Indeed, the corona virus dealt a major blow to the world and its economy, by extension, the entertainment industry which includes Nollywood, music, casino online, betting, comedy section, fashion shows and pagent, stage presentations, and theaters. Nigerian’s music industry suffered greatly with top arts like Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy all cancelling scheduled concerts and album lunches during the period. The clubs were closed and parties were a no go for millions of fun loving people, leaving many frustrated and craving for better times.
It was therefore a welcome development after the world emerged from the ordeal of lockdown occasioned by the corona virus and some of the major arts started making announcements about their new releases. First it was Adekunle Gold with hits like AG Baby, Something Different and Okay, then Tiwa was on the swing with Celia, this was followed by Wizkid’s release of Made in Lagos.
The latest on the list is Davido with the album titled “A Better Time”. The 17 track album was released on November 13 as a follow up to “A Good Time” which was released last year. This new album feature some star studded personalities like Lil Baby, Young Thug, Tiwa Savage, Mayorkun, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Hitboy, and Nas.
Writing about the album and the choice of title, Davido said “This year, we have been through crazy times. Real crazy times, and through it all, we have all had to look inwards to find our unique hopes of better times ahead. I found a few in human form and creative form. I am glad I can finally share them with you. I present to you ‘A Better Time”.
If the success achieved by Davido’s “A Good Time” last year is anything to go by, then this latest album is set to consolidate the star’s position as a global super star. Already, the titled has achieved a milestone on US iTune as it debuted in the top 10. Davido also announced on his official Instagram page that the song has hit the 100 million mark in streams within 3 days across all streaming platforms.
The entertainment industry in Nigeria is beginning to rise from the dull occasioned by the covid-19 pandemic, and as the social life of the people get back on track, there is no doubt that the dancing shoes will come on once again. There is no denying that the hunger for something new and refreshing will drive a lot of things, especially with music, movie, and comedy after months of being grounded. There are better days ahead as more super stars look to make up lost grounds and try to satisfy the yearnings of millions of fans all over the world.
